It seems like for every piece of essential RV equipment, there’s an essential accessory. That’s certainly the case with sewer hose supports. A lot can go wrong when you simply let your sewer hose run along the ground between your RV and the sewer hookup. For starters, it’s a tripping hazard in the dark. Then, there’s the possibility of damage from feet (animal or human) and equipment.  Finally, there’s rocks and debris on the ground that can cause punctures. No one wants a leaking sewer hose. 

For a lot of those same reasons, many RV parks now require sewer hoses to be off the ground which requires RV owners to buy sewer hose supports. But it’s not just a rule—there are benefits. Sewer hose supports allow you to create an easier flow to flush out wastewater. Some RV pros even configure them to create a P-trap just like in home plumbing.  To be most effective, sewer hose supports should be at least as long as your hose. While 20 feet seems to be a good standard, we’ve noted some hose supports that only accommodate 10 or 15 feet. Depending on circumstances, that could be useful for some campers.

The Valterra Slunky is a straightforward design that makes a lot of sense. A series of plastic supports (some taller, some shorter) create a downward slope away from your RV and toward the sewer hookup. Moderately priced, the Slunky is durable, compact and lightweight, with six tie-down straps included for securing the hose to the supports.

The Camco Sidewinder lives up to its name with a design that makes it easy to route a hose through a curved run from your RV to the sewer hookup. High points include lightweight construction and weather resistance. It’s also less expensive than the Valterra Slunky. 

Space and weight are always at a premium for RVers, which makes Camco’s aluminum sewer hose supports worth a look. They’re lightweight, allow for compact storage and are rust-resistant. A couple of caveats: This product is pricey and only supports 15 feet of sewer hose.

Valterra’s Easy Slider gets points for innovation and simplicity. It’s three three-foot sections of plastic, like an open drainpipe, that can slide to be shorter or longer. It runs underneath and supports the sewer hose while being attached to the RV by a supplied chain. The simplicity keeps the price low. The Easy Slider comes with a reusable storage carton. This product only supports hose runs up to 10 feet. 

Versatility makes the Lippert Components 365053 a standout. The Lippert doesn’t look like any other sewer hose support on the market. It consists of four 30-inch half-pipes with connectors that allow for twists and turns and can adjust to even out the hose run over rough terrain. It comes with a carrying case for storage. This is a cost-no-object winner, and despite its flexibility, it maxes out in terms of length at 10 feet.
