■September is Library Card Sign-up month! Stop by the Penacook Branch Library, it is currently open Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m.

■The Audi’s 118th season as home of the Capital Area’s community-based arts and entertainment opens with a GALA celebration on Sept. 18. The Friends of the Audi are hosting the city’s traditional A&E season opener, starting at 6 p.m. The two hour GALA is free, thanks to the Walker Lecture Fund and the Bagan Foundation. ■Concord Hospital is offering a Baby Steps Support Group on Sept. 20 and/or 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Support, connection, education and empowerment are what you can expect when you attend this support group for new parents and their babies. Join other new parents with your baby in an informal online setting via Zoom. There is no cost to attend but pre-registration is required. To register, visit

■The GoodLife Programs & Activities (254 North State Street) is have a Craft Fair on Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This fundraising event will feature a variety of local NH crafters and will include a bake sale and raffle. All items are hand or homemade. This event is open to the public and will be held indoors with plenty of parking. The entrance fee is $2 per person and children are free. ■Join in on some fun at the Capital Arts Fest (just outside of the League of NH Craftsmen on 49 South Main Street) on Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a free event, with most activities taking place right on Main Street. In addition to the League of NH Craftsmen Fine Art and Craft Fair, there will be community events throughout the weekend, featuring a great musical line-up facilitated by the Capitol Center for the Arts. ■Tickets for the CCEH Talent Show and After Party are now available on Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage. Tickets are available online through the Capitol Center for the Arts or at the Capitol Center for the Arts’ ticket booths. The Talent Show will also be live streamed on the CCEH website and on Concord TV’s Public Access Channel 22.

■Capital Arts Fest returns to showcase the best of the region’s culture, arts, and food. Go Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., outside the League of NH Craftsmen, 49 S. Main St. In addition, there will be community events throughout the weekend.

■Join the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce for morning networking at Christ the King Parish on Sept. 28. Grab a coffee and light breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and tour the newly renovated worship space. ■The Red River Theatres Fall Membership Campaign is back and this year, introducing “PASS-A-PALOOZA!” When you join, renew, or gift a membership between September and October, you’ll receive double the movie passes! They’re bringing back Member Free Popcorn Day every Friday in September and October.

■The Abbot Downing PTO would like to thank all of the families that donated to our Welcome Back Snack Cart!

■Once again, the Abbot Downing PTO is serving up popcorn every Friday! Students can pay ¢50 weekly, or buy a Popcorn Passport to get popcorn every Friday! Popcorn Passports are $16 and due on Sept. 8. Popcorn Passport forms have been sent home with kids. They also need volunteers to help make popcorn on Fridays! Sign up if you have a few free hours on Friday mornings.

■The Book Fair will be this week. We are looking for volunteers to help during school hours and Back to School Night. Reach out if you have any questions about volunteer requirements. Don’t forget, online orders benefit the school as well. Back to School Night is Sept.15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Stop at the ADS table for a school-wide Scavenger Hunt to earn an ADS Spiritwear Wristband!

■The VFW and its Auxiliary are sponsoring a raffle to purchase “diversion doors” for the dementia unit at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton. ■Come ice skate with family and friends at the Douglas N. Everett Arena, 15 Loudon Road until March 16, 2023! Refreshments are available at the snack bar. The hours are Sundays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday hours begin on Oct. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $6 and free for ages three and under. Skate rentals are available for $6 at the Arena’s pro shop, or bring your own.

■Ice skating lessons are offered by Concord Parks & Recreation. Session one will be available from November through December and session two will be January through February. ■Join in for a guided hike on a city trail, discussing Rooted: Life at the Crossroads of Science, Nature, and Spirit on Sept. 27 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Marjory Swope Park, Long Pond Road. ■The Walker Lecture Series invites you to The Community Players of Concord a Documentary. They are pleased to host the free world premiere of a documentary film covering the 95-year history of the city’s own theater company on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The screening and talkback with Players and filmmakers will take place in the historic Concord City Auditorium. ■The following streets will be closed from Friday at 11 a.m. to Sunday, at 1 p.m.: South Main Street, from Concord Street to just south of Hills Avenue; Theatre Street, from Storrs Street to South Main Street; and Thompson Street, from South State Street to South Main Street for the Capital Arts Fest.

■Streets will be closed for the Concord Farmers Market on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Capitol Street from Main Street to North State Street. They open at 8:30 a.m.
