The 47th Goods and Service Tax (GST) council meet that was held in Chandigarh under the leadership of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman didn’t bear much fruit for the state governments either. The FM has said the council will meet later in August again in Madurai to decide on various issues.

Grateful to Shri Dharam Pal, Advisor, UT Chandigarh, for having coordinated and extended all hospitality for the @GST_Council. The state finance ministers were well looked after. We could conduct the @GST_Council meeting smoothly.@FinMinIndia @cbic_india @mppchaudhary pic.twitter.com/CE5PvPtSrP

Meanwhile the new GST declaration doesn’t even seem to offer a modicum of respite to the aam aadmi amid rising inflation and looming recession. More items have been brought into the ambit of GST while tax user bases have already been expanded to include influencers and doctors. See Also: No More Freebies! Here’s a list of a few of the items with revised GST.

Many items that were exempt earlier are now taxable including services by RBI, SEBI, FSSAI, GSTN etc, renting of residential buildings for business entities, storage of spices, nuts, copra, cotton etc.

Concession on electronic waste, petroleum and coal bed methane has been revoked. The revised GST will be applicable July 18th onwards.
