The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 12 new criminal complaints this week, which is eight less than last week and closer to the weekly average. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, two cases involved interpersonal violence.

“In one case, we charged three counts of assault with a weapon as well as some other charges,” Pabst said. “In that case, the defendant and the victim were dating. The defendant and the victim then got into an argument. She went outside and allegedly started pouring gasoline on his vehicle. He went outside and she then poured gasoline on him allegedly. She attempted to spark a lighter, but failed, thankfully. She then allegedly chased him around the driveway with a knife.”

In the other case, Pabst said her office charged strangulation and assault on a minor. There were four new complaints in the non-interpersonal category.

“There was an assault with a weapon,” Pabst said. “In that case, the defendant allegedly pulled a handgun on the victim at or near the Poverello Center. In another, we charged assault with a weapon and resisting arrest. We charged one individual with possession of a weapon in a school building. It turned out to be he was allegedly possessing throwing knives.”

There was an additional case where a defendant was charged with assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.

‘In the property crimes category, we charged a burglary and a theft,” Pabst said. “A vehicle was stolen from a used car dealership and then the defendant was located with the vehicle in the Rosauers parking lot. In the drug category, we charged one new case that involved the possession of both heroin and methamphetamine.”
